Hello. Please move on, there is nothing new here. The only news is I am very psyched not to be travelling to Tulsa this year to play frisbee. Nothing against Tulsa, it is just a long ways away from anywhere I would have lived.
This week was all about regaining lost ground. Last weekend was busy and a bit trying at times. Initially, I was going to take it easier and then easy became 3 days off as various things got in the way of working out. Anyway, workouts over 2 weeks:
Sat- Warmup/down, Ran a 8:30 minute 1.5 mile on the track
Sun- We attempted to do some quickness oriented stuff in our backyard ie rabbits, jumps, sprints, shuffles, explosions, throws in attempt to simulate some sort of frisbee like activites. We wanted to do it for 40 minutes or so, but we got interrupted and only did 20 minutes.
Mon- Off
Tue- Warm up/down 2 X 100/150/200/150/100 with 1 X 100/300/100 sandwiched in between, this workout felt great the 200s were 32; the 300 was 48.
Wed- Ran 25 minutes
Thu- Practice
Fri- off
Sat- ~45 minute bike ride
Sun + Mon - off
Tue - Ran 25 minutes
Wed - 2 X (5 200s), did not feel so good. First off, it has been hot as Chiapas here. And it gets hot here between 4-6, right after work, when I usually workout. Ugh. Second, it definitely felt like I took time off.
Thu- Practice, this was pretty good, a lot of throwing, playing and running. Still the main problem is not playing in a 4/3. But I feel at least the effort is there. One very important thing I learned very early on was it is not important to have 14 people at practice. The most important thing is to work hard when you are there and not worry about things you cannot control (like not having 14 at practice, not having 6 women at practice, etc.). If everyone is on the same page and works hard when you are together, things will work out well.
Fri- Warmup+down 6 laps on the track (jog the curves and accelerate/sprint the curves). So bascially, 12 100s somewhat hard, 12 easier 100s. Each lap took 1:40.
Sat- Stationary bike 35 minutes
Non active stuff:
music- wilco cd is good stuff. I think the previous 2 (so far) Are better, but still darn good. white stripes very good as well. The best use of bagpipes since acdc
movies- saw the wilco documentary - good, united93 - intense + good, narnia - not that great, i am getting tired of the big battle scenes where good and bad meet on an open field.

i'll bite timmy... i actually like reading the workout logs. those are tight. i like the 8:30 1.5... nice.. that's like 5:45 pace. pretty nice
i can only assume the readers at home like reading the exploits of a 'fast' player vs an 'old player'... good times.
i think some value might be associated with your dynamic drils (rabbits etc)
i'm psyched to read it. for those of you out in friskee land, timmy's workouts, starting from his early work, demonstrate a good progress of base to speed. i assume that come regionals, timmy will, once again be faster than me.
but, i'm a master now.
luke.
The whole reason for these workouts is ot be the fastest frisbee player on ultimatetalk...
Dynamic drills we did:
Rabbits - run back and forth w/ another person stationary throwing a frisbee to you at each corner (2 x 10 throws);
Shuttle Run/Throw - similiar to rabbits, but you are running straight at + straight away from the thrower, in one direction you run to a cone plant and comeback to the thrower, disc is thrown give it back and plant w/ minimal stopping/slowing down (10 sprints, 5 catches);
Square - 4 cones in a square ~4/5 yards apart, start at one corner, sprint forward, shuffle to the left, backward, shuffle to the right (around the outside of the cones) 4 times (2 x clockwise, 2 x counter-clockwise);
Suicides - 1 cone 5 yards out, another 10 yards out, basic down+back to first cone and then to second cone (4 x);
Shuffle + Sprint - Shuffle 5 yards up, 5 yards back, sprint plant 15 yards back upfield (2 x each facing one direction);
Explosions - face one direction, take 3 jog steps, plant and explode in the opposite direction ~10-15 yards (2 x each foot);
Quick jumps - jumping over a line as quick as possible (1 x 2 feet, right foot, left foot going side to side and then forward/back, 10 x each foot);
Quick jumps up - get a target above you that you can touch, jump quickly to touch it 10 times
Jumps for height - try a higher target, jump as high as you can 10 times;
Situps- a quick ab workout
We would do 2 things and then have a throwing break of about 20 throws.

Tulsa may be the worst location possible for regionals. I could be wrong, but could the fields be anything but brown and hard in october in oklahoma? Already looking for a good turf shoe.
Biyatch.
