Hamilton here we come

Besides the temperature finally getting below 100, the wildfires close by, discussing MUDI and finding out seigs has a blog again, not much is new. We are preparing the city of Hamilton to have the first ever ultimate frisbee practice in the city. Everyone is psyched. I have normal July feeling of the fall series seems too far away and I just want to play frisbee at a tourney. I guess I'll get my fix in Seattle.

Anyway, working backwards from the past week or so-

Today - practice, not too bad. Good running, weather was nice, pretty good frisbee. I turned it over once on a cut miscommunication. The ol' couldn't hold the disc in. Oh, and I biked to and from work this morning. Total trip ~6.5 miles or so. The first time in a while I have worked out twice in a day in a long time. Now that is a good way to get ready for a tourney, two-a-days.

Wed - 4 x 300/200, 15 seconds between, 4 minute between sets. A killer workout, but good. 300s were 50-51 and the 200s were 34-36. The 300s felt really good and I did feel like I was holding back. The 200s on the otherhand, my legs felt dead. It was a good workout though.

Tue - short run, ~15 minute run. I wanted to throw afterwards, but it was too dark.

Mon - 5 minutes up/down, 16 x 100accelerate/100ez. Similar to my last post. Felt good.

Sat/Sun - Great weekend, we got up early on Sat. and went up North, just west of Glacier and just west of Polebridge. Beautiful country, right on the North Fork of the Flathead River. One of the Flycoons had a birthday camping weekend and we joined them for a day. Drove by beautiful Flathead Lake. And got up to the destination ~3 pm. Just hung out and had a bunch of fun on the river. The ended with a bonfire. And of course, frisbees through the fire. Good times. On Sunday, we got up, had some food, packed up and went through Glacier on a recommendation from our friend DaveO. I am so glad we did. We hung out in Apgar Village on Lake McDonald. Even though we were there for only 3 hours or so, it was well worth. It is just gorgeous up there. I highly recommend it. Got home late on Sunday, but it was worth it. I even got a run in when we got home. ~25 minutes. I was inspired to wear my new shoes.

Fri - Got ready to go camping. Did buy some new shoes, the Nike Air Milers were half off. My legs are very thankful.

Thu - 6 x (100/200), 30 seconds between reps, 90 seconds between sets. 100s were in the 13s, 200s were 32/33. I felt good again. My last 200 was my 2nd fastest, so I took that as a good sign.

Wed - I forget

Tue - Practice, I felt really good at this practice. There was a lot of lightning early, so we waited that out. And eventually had enough to play some frisbee. I don't remember much though. I threw some hucks that were completed that is about it.

....

Thats all for now.

no content

Hello. Please move on, there is nothing new here. The only news is I am very psyched not to be travelling to Tulsa this year to play frisbee. Nothing against Tulsa, it is just a long ways away from anywhere I would have lived.

This week was all about regaining lost ground. Last weekend was busy and a bit trying at times. Initially, I was going to take it easier and then easy became 3 days off as various things got in the way of working out. Anyway, workouts over 2 weeks:

Sat- Warmup/down, Ran a 8:30 minute 1.5 mile on the track
Sun- We attempted to do some quickness oriented stuff in our backyard ie rabbits, jumps, sprints, shuffles, explosions, throws in attempt to simulate some sort of frisbee like activites. We wanted to do it for 40 minutes or so, but we got interrupted and only did 20 minutes.
Mon- Off
Tue- Warm up/down 2 X 100/150/200/150/100 with 1 X 100/300/100 sandwiched in between, this workout felt great the 200s were 32; the 300 was 48.
Wed- Ran 25 minutes
Thu- Practice
Fri- off
Sat- ~45 minute bike ride
Sun + Mon - off
Tue - Ran 25 minutes
Wed - 2 X (5 200s), did not feel so good. First off, it has been hot as Chiapas here. And it gets hot here between 4-6, right after work, when I usually workout. Ugh. Second, it definitely felt like I took time off.
Thu- Practice, this was pretty good, a lot of throwing, playing and running. Still the main problem is not playing in a 4/3. But I feel at least the effort is there. One very important thing I learned very early on was it is not important to have 14 people at practice. The most important thing is to work hard when you are there and not worry about things you cannot control (like not having 14 at practice, not having 6 women at practice, etc.). If everyone is on the same page and works hard when you are together, things will work out well.
Fri- Warmup+down 6 laps on the track (jog the curves and accelerate/sprint the curves). So bascially, 12 100s somewhat hard, 12 easier 100s. Each lap took 1:40.
Sat- Stationary bike 35 minutes

Non active stuff:
music- wilco cd is good stuff. I think the previous 2 (so far) Are better, but still darn good. white stripes very good as well. The best use of bagpipes since acdc

movies- saw the wilco documentary - good, united93 - intense + good, narnia - not that great, i am getting tired of the big battle scenes where good and bad meet on an open field.
