Stolen from another e-mail from another hemisphere:

Start quote:

So as you all probably know by now we yook 4th. Disappointing, but here is the
story.

We played a very good and very tight firs half with buzz bullets. We started
on O and we each got two breaks on each other, therefore SZ took half 9-8. The
first half was fairly clean on both sides. They D'd one hucka dn we maybe
dropped another pass, an that was about it for our turns, I think.

Buzz plays either very poachy man D (the quickly jump into cutting lnes and
intercept under throws) or they play a zone that transitions to man late in
stall counts. Both were very effective at stifling flow.

We played good old american force one way, don't get broken and use our
bodies. Buzz goes up the line incessantly and move the disc quickly, but when
we got our marks on and stayed aware of the cutting lanes, we stymied them and
forced turns.

In the second half buzz got three consecutive breaks. All were SZ drops or
trow aways. To buzz's credit they forced us into a bad situation with clever
Ds, but bottom line we did it to ourselvs. This perhaps exposed out biggest
weakness, lack of depth. When other teams went on a run against us, we had a
hard time knowing how to mix up the personel to adjust... there weren't many
options!

In the second half we score maybe one or two goals-- ver disappointig. But
hand it to Buzz, they run very hard on O and D. They almost never allowed clean
flow from their opponents, they rset the disc efficiently, and the only TOs they
had were rare executions errors (2 in our game) or a calculated deep risk to a
match up.

The next game was chilly. We were down emotionally and they were content to
have their one 6-5 duse throw hucks to one of the other 6-5 dude and take their
60% completion percentage. We were late changing to a zone, nonetheless we made
it interesting in the end. 17-15 I think. Too bad we would have loved to bring
home bronze.

At the end of the game chilly gave Schmelzle the "game ball" and aussie rules
football. Schmelzle, as deep in the zone, must have gotten 8 jump balls,
bringing us back into the game at the end.

End quote.

Hi, here is a report from down under. Although I have edited somethings out, it seems to be going ok. On the roster are 11 guys currently on Sub Zero, 2 fish from Seattle, and 3 Sub Zero alum: 2 recent alums, 1 from the 99/00 era. So 16 guys.

Zero will be up against Buzz Bullets in the semis of Worlds**.

Stolen from an e-mail:

Yesterday, Zero had a close game against clapham. Clapham took half 9-8, but we
held together and went on a run in the second half to win the game 14-12. We
were capped due (I think) to the game before us going over time.

We all left the game feeling we had done our best yet. One player on clapham
kneed andrew B in the thigh early in the game and (seriously) bit Naz in the
shoulder later in that game. Not surprisingly, Todd got into (and won) a battle
of words with ther goon during the turning point of the game.

Seth Crockford started out on their stud (also called Naz, black dude from
France). Seth contained him well. Later Kyle switched to cover him and totally
tooled the guy-- scoring two over his head and D'ing him besides. Kyle has been
super sick for the last 3-4 games, nearly 100% throwing and catching and D'ing
everything high. Good thing cause he is the only depp we got....

Naz had a great game versus clapham, he even laid out!

Today was Quarters against fakulti ("faculty") a young tall and aggressive
team from Sydney. They threw a twisted metal-esque zone and made deep throws.
It was a crazy cross wind. We got the first 5 breaks on the backs of great
hucks from Will Henry and Todd O. Then we carried on to a 17-10 win. Mad props
to Kyle again for catching everything up high, even the crazy blades.

Tomorrow we get the buzz bullets again. Lucky for us we are literally a
different team than last time we played them. We are nursing a few injuries but
otherwise we are doing OK.

Other notes:

Potter has no TO's and 3-4 Ds

John S dominated the trade night.

Everyone is starting to take ice baths before bed to reduce the swelling. [I am not sure if they are all taking them together or not]

They have great beer down here.

the temp ranges from 70-90, sometimes clopudy, sometimes very windy. Very UPA
national esque.

Wish us luck.
