For the first time in awhile, I find myself really jonesing to play frisbee again. Although I wanted to play last year, frisbee took away from my main objectives for 2006 which were help out with the new addition to our family and get the hell out of graduate school. The graduate school thing is what really killed my desire to play last year. 12-14 hour days in lab 5-6 days of week. The weekend would come and it was not fun to wake up and go to practice. It felt like a chore. I was never rested and I never felt like I was as prepared as I wanted to be (and used to be). Sub Zero is a very fun, young team and I have made some great friends there, but my motivation to play was dying. It felt like a 2nd job and not a fun team activity.

So I stopped everything altogether. For the first time since 96, no frisbee. Plus no running, or anything for almost 6 months just chemistry, writing, family, and finally moving. Now, I am slowly getting back into shape. And I found myself excited about playing spring league. Just to throw around a frisbee really would be nice. After 2 really great weeks here, were came back and dropped a couple inches of snow. If we were skiiers (and maybe slightly older kids), we would be at the local ski area with the rest of Hamilton and Bitterroot Valley today. Maybe in a couple of years. At work this week, people were absolutely giddy about the snow. It is going to be the best weeked for skiing so far in 2007. Obviously, everyone loves skiing here and I think that is what started getting me excited about frisbee again. Everyone has a favorite non-work activity and frisbee is my thing. Luckily, it is our family's thing. If it not gotten suddenly colder, I am sure we would have been outside even in the 38 clear day throwing around. It was weird last year not getting up in the morning and wanting to play ultimate. I find myself, at the least, wanting to get in shape so I can play ultimate. That is a great thing.

Because of the sudden turn in weather, I have only ran once this week. I did a mild workout at the local cinder track on Sunday. I think I was slightly inspired by the track meet I watched on tv as well, but I went and ran a blistering 6:10 mile and followed that up with a 2:55 half. I am at least getting close to how fast I was in 8th grade. I will also blame the track for at least 5 seconds.

I have started to take a spinning class twice a week. On Tues + Thur, I got up before work and went spinning. Now, this is not your kick in the butt spinning classes that I have heard about before. For one, I am definitely the youngest person in there. And there are also heart attack jokes made by some of the spinners. I feel uncomfortable because I did not how serious they are. But it is a good workout as long as I turn the resistance up and try to keep myself going. I am not much of a biker so I have to get used to the pain in new places.

Nothing on MWF, Monday our schedule got messed up so I could not run. W I was exhausted and F well it was Friday and took a little longer at work then I wanted. I have to get used to the 8-5 thing and maybe have to consider going to the gym before work everyday. I am not the greatest morning person in the world, so that could take awhile.

Lastly, I would like to comment how beautiful the mountains are. Growing in Michigan and then living in Minneapolis, well, lthe scenery is not as nice. That makes driving to work fun. Running is more fun when you are tired, I find myself just staring at the mountains. Even cloudy days are great here. Anyway, enough of my attempt to tell you how great this small town is. Cheers
