First, Luke I think you should have a weekly dietary tip. I could not believe how informative your last post was. Is everything ok? I hope I soon learn how Jim makes his lasagna.
After 5 months of no frisbee/physical activity and all chemistry/family/moving stuff, I finally have a little free time to start working out. But currently, I do not know if I getting in shape to play frisbee in the fall or if I am just getting in shape (high altitude training). Before that decision is made, I need to get in shape. Between the middle of July to 2007, I ran once. And that was for 10 minutes because I missed the bus to get home. This is strange for me because I have been running since the 7th grade. Right now, I am convinced I could be me as a 7th grader, but not as an 8th grader. Hopefully, by the end of the month I will be able to pull that race out.
Also, thoughts of how to plan a team or how to run practices or how to Goldstein in Minneapolis are no longer there. It is refreshing to run and not also use that time as planning method for the team. Although I am sure I will missing being a co-captain of a team, I will not miss all the drama and scheming to make sure the team functions well. I can just run and enjoy it (or at this point try to struggle through 25 minutes).
And instead I can look forward to playing in a spring/summer league for the first time in 8 years.
I have even joined a gym, this is the first time I have not been a student since the fall of 99. Even then, I could still get into the university gym for free. THings like spinning classes and all that jazz I have actually looked into and it seems as though I will be joining them soon. I have always hated riding stationary bikes, but my knees are not the greatest and I keep telling myself it will allow me to not have arthritis until I am 35 or 40 instead of next year.
So the last week I ran 4 out of 6 days, each 25-30 minutes. All relatively easy and today I will hit the gym for the first time and incorporate some of Luke's off-season tips. Before I left Minneapolis, I did play one last indoor game. Hoping to pad my indoor coed resume, we played the old rivals who we have played in the championship the last 3 or 4 years in the dreaded 11 pm game. Luckily, my legs did not fall off, I got to throw a couple of bombs and some scoobers, no incompletions, and a victory. Exactly what I was looking for in my retirement game! Hopefully, I can spill that over into a successful summer league season.

Well, I mostly just follow the directions on the box, although I have to make an adjustment because we have an oversized lasagna pan, and if I laid out the noodles as they said to, they wouldn't provide adequate coverage for the pan. I keep the cheese portions the same and just add more noodles and a little extra sauce. I use the Barilla Baking Sauce rather than "my favorite spaghetti sauce." As for meat, if we have some sausage, I'll cook that up. The previous time, I had left on the casings and so had a tough time getting the sausage pieces small enough, but this time I cut them off first. My wife is a little worried about freezing and defrosting and reheating the meat, but I'm sure it's ok.
